Google Messages is introducing a significant update for those who are not fans of the Gemini AI shortcut.
The Google Messages app now integrates with Gemini AI. With this update, users can interact with the AI directly from their messaging platform without needing to download the Gemini app.
For about a month, the Gemini AI integration in Google Messages has been met with interest from many users. However, some users who did not wish to use Gemini were not pleased with the integration. Now, a functional option is available for those users.
If you want to use it in Google Messages, you only need to tap the star icon button and start a conversation with the artificial intelligence assistant. While this feature is a useful integration, some users dislike the persistent button for starting AI conversations. Now, the app allows you to hide the Gemini shortcut from the Google Messages interface.
When you hide the Gemini button, conversations with the AI will still appear in your Google Messages chat list. However, to continue using the AI, you will need to find the conversation through the app’s search function or by swiping on the main page.
This new button option is available in the Google Messages 20240808_01_RC00 beta version. However, some users on social media have reported seeing this feature in the stable version as well. It is expected to be publicly available very soon.
